Our group had an 8-person camping trip planned, two cars, leaving from a small town and camping overnight near another city. Instead of reading through travel blogs myself, I let Claude Code search, read, and summarize instead.
The context I gave it
I only needed to state a few real constraints:
- Group size and number of cars (this matters a lot — plenty of scenic campsites simply aren’t reachable by car)
- Starting point, to prioritize places that were actually on the way
- Schedule: camp overnight, head back the next morning
How Claude pulled it together
Claude searched multiple sources, cross-checked pricing and amenities, and — most usefully — filtered out anything that wasn’t actually workable given the group’s constraints. Places only reachable by motorbike got dropped immediately, no matter how nice the photos looked.
The result was a comparison table: location, whether cars could actually get there, estimated price, standout amenities, and a quick verdict — plus one main recommendation and a backup option in case of bad weather.
What I found most useful
It wasn’t the information-gathering itself (Google can do that too) — it was applying the real-world constraints throughout the filtering process, instead of having to remember and manually rule out each option myself after reading everything. For a larger group with specific transportation needs, that saved a meaningful amount of time compared to compiling it by hand.
